6 The Lord our God said to us at Horeb, “You have stayed long enough at this mountain. 7 Break camp and advance into the hill country of the Amorites; go to all the neighboring peoples in the Arabah, in the mountains, in the western foothills, in the Negev and along the coast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the Euphrates. 8 See, I have given you this land. Go in and take possession of the land the Lord swore he would give to your fathers—to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob—and to their descendants after them.” Deuteronomy 1:6-8
You have stayed long enough at this mountain. Time for a change!
What is your mountain? Is it a place of despair? A situation that shouldn’t be? A destructive habit that is not healthy for you or that hurts how others may view Christians or one that tarnishes God’s reputation? Perhaps it is not anything bad but it is time to move on to something beyond, bigger, greater.
Deuteronomy 1:6-8 exhorts to move beyond that mountain – to stop dwelling there. This is not praying for the mountain to move, but an encouragement that you would be moved away from the troubling mountain by action into the land God has given you. This may mean a physical change or a change in the mentality of your prayers. Be active not passive.
Have you felt in your spirit a restlessness, urging you toward change? Have you been hungering for God to fulfill a promise He whispered in your heart but it has not yet come to pass? Be encouraged. God is TRUSTworthy…worthy of TRUST. You may not be have seen the promises of God come to fruition yet but His promises are “yes” and “amen” (2 Corinthians 1:20).
Trust and pray with confidence to take possession of things that God has promised you.
Do not get discouraged… this is His continued exhortation regarding things He has promised.
21 See, the Lord your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, told you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”
Deuteronomy 1:21
God doesn’t change!
What is that promise for you? Peace? Restoration? Redemption of relationships? Provision of material needs? Blessing in ministry areas? God knows. Forge ahead in faith – the time for TRUST and action is now. Let that mountain be in your rearview mirror. Set your sights on God and His promises.
